Poetic Patagonia
with Victoria Erickson + Cole Chance

January 24-31, 2020

“In your life may infinite dreams live.”
Pablo Neruda

This January, we are thrilled to be curating a seven night retreat in northern Patagonia, Chile, a place of pure poetry. Chile is even referred to as “the land of poets.” The Latin American country has produced two Nobel Laureates for Literature and numerous other prolific writers, perhaps the most well known being Pablo Neruda.
What is poetry? Language and movement. The language and movement of words, and of breath, and of stories the body tells through fluid shape and feeling and sensation and form. Poetry is the language and movement of life itself. Poetry is essentially in everything.

The infusion of yoga and words as art in the wild setting and backdrop of ecstatic nature will be our dance of poetic story and movement through time, space, and gorgeous sanctuary.

Our home for the week is a holistic learning and healing retreat center  called Aluantu. “Aluantu”in essence means, “Connecting to the light within,” in the tongue of the Mapuche people. It is nestled in the Andes mountains and Lake Region of northern Patagonia and will be summer in the southern hemisphere. The mission of the retreat center is to create a space in which the rediscovery of the natural world and spiritual journey inward can be intertwined and facilitated in a nurturing environment and safe container. It is essentially a place of deep rest and refuge for the human spirit.
Aluantu is situated on the gentle shores of Lake Rupunco, shadowed by the snow-capped Puntiagudo Volcano, on lands with a magical quality bringing life to the deep healing energies we all carry, and must remember.

This retreat includes:

-An old growth rainforest surrounding the lodge and time spent in the forest reserve where there are high hanging hammocks and open wooded structures for meditation and enjoyment.

-Time spent at the shores of the lake on black volcanic sand beaches and crystal clear waters of Rupanco. There is also a beautiful 180 meter waterfall.

-Yoga and writing in a large, open-air gazebo overlooking the lake

-Opportunities for adventure and exploration with day trips including a boat ride, guided hikes, and hot springs.

- Fresh organic herbs, veggies, and fresh fruits grown in the gardens.

- Local produce, eggs from resident free range hens, organic honey from their growing bee colony, and freshly baked breads prepared in their large wood burning oven.

- Transport to and from the retreat center
